Well, I use the word “structure” loosely. I don’t think about it, but it happens. The pyramid is a good reference point if you’re writing a traditional story. Now, I’m scared. I’m making you think of traumatic experiences like college writing classes and having to read your work and, heaven forbid, math class! How cruel of me! Go write something.

My goodness, Maria! Of course, you can read in front of people! Find a reading and read part of your blog, like an essay. That will promote it, get people to sign up. You might even find a critique group from there. I never went to meetings, but I used to get emails from a LI writers group or network or something like that. Look into it. You’re good! Put yourself out there! I expect a full report–and a blog about your experience.

I loved this blog post! Sometimes writing can feel very solitary, and writing posts for my blog can feel like shouting down a well. Is anyone down there? I know you are, Darlene, but is anyone else? Thanks for the great tips on building your writing community. I may not be able to get up and read my own work in front of people though–I am still having flashbacks to that writer’s weekend I went to during college.
